Q:Ive been seeing this guy I really like. It started out super strong and now is petering out. Hes not calling as much, and doesnt plan ahead for dates with me. A:I have good news. There really is a chance that it can work out! But we would need to test it out and do some things differently just to see. Heres the dating advice or protocol I would prescribe.

1.Have you been doing all of the heavy lifting? Like the bulk of the texting, phoning and emailing to set things up? If so, you need to slack off. Back off and give him a chance to initiate some contact and even some plans.

We dont want to force it into happening. There needs to be some reciprocity and mutuality of interest.

2.Let go a bit while being warm and connected when you do communicate. This looks like calling less, finding other things to be busy about and doing a release on him internally -- something you probably know is a specialty of mine. This is one dating advice you’d want to keep.

3.Get and stay at soulmate level. Your vibration is everything. You can make anything work out, attract just like you want and more when you are in the right place energetically. Neediness and desperation are at the bottom rung of attraction and will never get you what you want.

Soulmate Level is hopeful, released, happy and standing in how amazing you are. It brings just what you want to you.

4.Dont put all of your eggs in this one basket (of this guy no matter how much you like him). This is another dating advice you should take seriously. Look around and be open to others (if you arent in a committed situation which I gather youre not). Flirt and focus elsewhere.

A: This is a subject I often deal with people on. Until you can connect with someone attractive to you, you are basically discounting every single possible soulmate. Not ideal!

Let me continue with the updating tips -- this time on connecting -- and that should help.

UPDATING, PART 2: Connecting Dos and Donts 

In Part 1 of Updating, I defined Updating as dating out of your league. I dont believe that ANYONE is out of your league, but if you do, I am revealing some dating tips on how to get beyond this and date who you want to -- one step at a time. Part 1 covered The Approach. I asked that when you find someone attractive, no matter how intimidated you feel, you approach them in some way, even with a smile or eye contact. In Part 2, we cover dating tips such as Connecting Dos and Donts. After you have approached someone you are attracted to, you need to seek a connection. Here are some dating tips.

1. DO watch your energy. You want to seem mildly interested, pleasant and harmless.

2. DONT exude desperation or pushiness. You might as well put your hand on their chest and give them a shove away from you. Why? Desperation and pushiness repel.

3. DO honor the persons boundaries. Dont violate their personal space (learn to be aware of this). Dont go into a monologue if you can tell theyre not into what youre saying.

4. DONT seek to be dazzling. Your stellar personality will be less interesting than being a good listener.

5. DO look deeply into your attractions eyes and become acutely aware of the connection between the two of you.

Connecting should be light, fun and with sensitive energy. Running anyone over with a bulldozer of in-their-face energy may send them scrambling for cover.   Better use for a Great Wall of China cannon 

It has been such a whirlwind lately that Ive just about lost my voice, so forgive me for not posting sooner. After seeing Tears for Fears in Manila & visiting the Great Wall of China en route to the States, we did a 3 week tour of the South, seeing family & friends in Georgia, S. & N. Carolina, I did my FIRST Teacher Training EVER in San Diego & now, were home in LA for the summer. Boy, do I need a breather!

I read the funniest blog the other day, complaining about the high octane personal ads that sound exhausting. The writer just wanted to go lie down.

This brings to mind a false assumption many believe about dating. Compatibility is a fake idea. Seriously! Studies show over & over that what people say they want and what they actually want are two different things. There is more of a chemistry/soul recognition happening than someone who looks good on paper in each instance.

So, take the pressure off of getting your personal ad perfect or ticking off a list of qualities with each prospective partner. Better to just be in a good mood while writing your ad and abandon loading it up with all your activities.

And as far as dating goes, look for an initial connection. It doesn’t have to be complete excitement at first, because for some chemistry opens up gradually. But you have to have some attraction, which is an indicator there may be something there.

But we all have access to those emotions and they are incredibly powerful and possibly destructive if you dont know how to skillfully handle them.

Thats what I really want to talk about today.

Carl Jung, the famous psychologist once said, "The brighter the light the darker the shadow."

If we really dive into that logic, the more you tap into the lighter sides of you the greater the access we have to the darkness. Because when you stretch one way you stretch the other as well. This scares most people to death.

But when we have committed to going out into the world and actually living, to chasing our dreams and to being the best person we can possibly be, we change in ways we never predicted. Along with that light comes the shadows and we must be able to coexist with our own shadow no matter how dark it may be at times.

The skill to develop here is this...

Use every single shade of life to create something beautiful with the experience of living.

In the times of darkness create beautiful, dark, inspiring, dangerously emotional paintings that express what is happening inside. Watch the paint flow representing the energy that is inside of you and put it out in your own form of art.

Create everything with it.

Express those energies and put them out there vulnerably for yourself (and maybe the world) to see. Do not trap them inside of you and let them create chaos inside your soul for too long.

Stuffing things down or avoiding what you are actually feeling is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.

Create something beautiful on the canvas of your life with every experience available to you.

The dark. The light. Make something beautiful with both.

At Our Boracay Villa

A: Updating is basically dating out of your league. I dont believe in it but many buy into this notion. If you feel someone is scary to talk to because theyre desirable to you, you may believe that theyre somehow better than you. This is a false idea. There ARE NO leagues, only human beings looking to connect.

The next time that you see someone you find attractive, here are some suggestions on connecting with them.

1. Get rid of the idea that theyre better than you or could reject you. They cant. There is no rejection, only the wrong fit.

2. Remember were not all attracted to the same thing so there is probably a REASON that youre vibing with this person. Intend to explore what is there.

3. Shore up your energy so its not desperate, which is repellent. Remind yourself that you are special, a catch for your soulmate. Personality, I’d take this advice if I want to find my soulmate.

4. With no agenda other than connecting and keeping in mind that you are worthy of ANYTHING, approach the person and look him in the eye. Smile and ask him something about himself. Remember hes just a human being like you and needs to connect.

If you are fearful of approaching someone youre actually drawn to, like many that I work with, you automatically count out the people most likely to be your soulmate. I cannot be scared of approaching my soulmate. Make it a point to stretch into allowing connections with those you find attractive. If you believe in updating, then vow to be a master at it!
