Im not going to tell you about happy emotions today. Not a chance.

Im going to speak straight from the heart and talk to you about those deep dark places in your soul that rumble around. The pit in each of us that is blacker than black.

Hate. Fear. Greed. Anxiety. Anger.

And a lot of pain.

We all have access to these emotions. The only difference between each of us is that they are brought out in many different ways. For some it could be heartbreak. For others it could be the loss of a job.

But we all have access to those emotions and they are incredibly powerful and possibly destructive if you dont know how to skillfully handle them.

Thats what I really want to talk about today.

Carl Jung, the famous psychologist once said, "The brighter the light the darker the shadow."

If we really dive into that logic, the more you tap into the lighter sides of you the greater the access we have to the darkness. Because when you stretch one way you stretch the other as well. This scares most people to death.

But when we have committed to going out into the world and actually living, to chasing our dreams and to being the best person we can possibly be, we change in ways we never predicted. Along with that light comes the shadows and we must be able to coexist with our own shadow no matter how dark it may be at times.

The skill to develop here is this...

Use every single shade of life to create something beautiful with the experience of living.

In the times of darkness create beautiful, dark, inspiring, dangerously emotional paintings that express what is happening inside. Watch the paint flow representing the energy that is inside of you and put it out in your own form of art.

Create everything with it.

Express those energies and put them out there vulnerably for yourself (and maybe the world) to see. Do not trap them inside of you and let them create chaos inside your soul for too long.

Stuffing things down or avoiding what you are actually feeling is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.

Create something beautiful on the canvas of your life with every experience available to you.

The dark. The light. Make something beautiful with both.

When I sit back and look at all now, I begin to understand what this was all about. This 5 years of writing. This 5 years of exploring. The constant effort of shedding old skin and learning what was going to be evoked in me.

You see the great transformation throughout your entire life.

Those experiences, as tough as they are sometimes free you up into becoming the person who you were destined to be. They give you the opportunity to step into new moments.

There are real possibilities in front of you when you are freed up from your past.

When those possibilities come into your life, they can shock you to the point where you stop and try to make sure its all real. But they are real. They are as real as they ever could be.

Theres nothing wrong with being different. Theres nothing wrong with doing something that is drastically different than what anyone else is doing. Be proud of that. Never let anyone take that from you.

The true magic in ourselves and in what we are able to create in this world lives in the act of being "different."

And yet, theres something to be said about trust in all of this. Trust in yourself. Trust in your path. Trust in the fact that you really cant see around the corner but knowing that this is completely okay. Its hard to trust in the things you cannot see but if we can walk by faith and not by sight we will go much farther in life.

As crazy as it sounds, when you really slow down and you develop some trust, you start to feel like the world is actually taking care of you instead of you going out into the world and "taking what you deserve." Its a very different way of looking and things and one that will transform your life.

These changes take time. But...they are so worth it.
